European Day of Languages
To help celebrate a World Day of Languages on Thursday 27th September children are invited to come to school on that day dressed in the colours of the country which their class has been assigned. Please do not feel that you have to purchase complete costumes. A simple t-shirt, scarf, jumper etc in the appropriate colour(s) will suffice. The match up of classes and countries appear below:
As well as being a fun and informative day, we have decided, also, that children will be asked to contribute a minimum of £2.00 for the opportunity to dress up. All proceeds will be donated to Lucas-education which aims to further develop a teaching app for non-verbal children and/or children with autism. The driving forces behind this initiative are two of our parents who have three children, two of whom attend our school. The third, and eldest child, Lucas, has a rare condition known as Phelan McDermid syndrome. Lucas is non-verbal and is also severely autistic. The teaching system which has been developed has taught Lucas to communicate using over 400 words! We hope you will give generously to this worthy cause and allow on-going development of the technology required to help Lucas and other non-verbal children.
