Letter from Chair of Governors of Portstewart Primary School to P7 parents

05 January 2021

Dear P7 parents of transfer pupils,

May I, on behalf of the governors of Portstewart Primary School, expressed our dismay and disappointment regarding the developments over the past two days.

We as governors fully understand the commitment and preparation that children and indeed parents have made with regards to sitting the relevant transfer examinations.

We also fully understand the frustration that you must feel with regards to the questionable communication from AQE and the tardiness of the decision making at its highest level.

May I assure you that the principal and all of the P7 staff will do everything possible to ensure that your children are prepared to the best of their ability to deal with whatever presents for their remaining time at school.

This is undoubtedly an extremely difficult and stressful period of time for anyone to deal with. However for children who are at a developmental and educationally significant period in their lives, it’s is even more significant.

Please be aware that the school will endeavour do everything possible to make the transfer experience of all children to secondary level education as smooth as possible.

Yours faithfully,

Mr Ivor Paul

(Chairperson of the Board of Governors of Portstewart Primary School and Nursery Unit)
