SCHOOL ATTENDANCE

The start of another school year is an opportune time to remind you of the importance of good attendance and good time keeping. School begins at 8.55 a.m. and it is essential that children are in school and ready to begin lessons when class starts. Lateness often means that children miss out on valuable teaching and learning time at the beginning of each school day.

Excellent attendance is crucial if children are to learn, gain a sense of achievement, grow in confidence and maintain friendships. Parents have a crucial role in ensuring their children’s attendance is as good as health and circumstances permit. To this end please arrange dental and medical appointments outside school hours when possible, take family holidays outside term time and always inform school if your child is absent due to illness. This should be followed up with a written note when your child returns to school.

The information, which can be viewed on the reverse of the printed letter, demonstrates how absences can quickly accumulate into significant amounts of time lost to learning and teaching.
