School residential trip for P6 and P7

Dear P6 and P7 parent/carers, 

SCHOOL RESIDENTIAL TRIP 2022

This year we are are delighted to announce that we are planning to hold two separate residential trips, one for Primary 6 and one for Primary 7. Both of the residential trips will take place at Gortatole Outdoor Centre in Enniskillen. The focus will be outdoor education and learning beyond the classroom in a specialist Outdoor Learning Centre with fully trained outdoor instructors alongside school staff. 

  • The Primary 7 residential is planned for Monday 7th March 2022 to Wednesday 9th March 2022 (subject to COVID regulations)
  • The Primary 6 residential is planned for Wednesday 9th March 2022 through to Friday 11th March 2022 (subject to COVID regulations)

While the complete itinerary for has not yet been finalised a draft copy has been included below for your information. Outdoor activities may include a selection of the following: kayaking, paddle boarding, sailing, high/low rope courses, climbing wall, archery, caving and hill walking.

Draft itinerary:

Day 1 of residential

  • leave school at approximately 8.00am and travel by coach to Gortatole in Enniskillen
  • arrive at the centre at approximately 11.00am and be allocated rooms and collect outdoor equipment
  • have lunch in the centre and meet the outdoor pursuit officers
  • go out on the first outdoor activity taken by qualified outdoor pursuit officers and school staff
  • have dinner in the centre
  • group activity session in the evening
  • supper and snack provided by the centre
  • use of the communal area for games/movie night or quiz
  • bedtime

Day 2 of residential

  • up, washed and dressed with breakfast served at 8.30am
  • tidy bedroom
  • an organised outdoor activity taken by qualified outdoor pursuit officers and school staff
  • lunch in the centre
  • another organised outdoor activity
  • dinner in the centre
  • group activity session in the evening
  • supper and snack provided by the centre
  • use of the communal area for games/movie night or quiz
  • bedtime

Day 3 of residential

  • up, washed and dressed with breakfast served at 8.30am
  • tidy bedroom
  • an organised outdoor activity taken by qualified outdoor pursuit officers and school staff
  • lunch in the centre
  • leave the centre at approximately 1.30pm
  • travel back to school by coach, arriving at school at approximately 4.15pm

The cost per pupil will be approximately £115 although this may be subject to variation. This includes all food which will be provided, transport to and from Enniskillen, accommodation and all the organised activities. We have kept the costs as low as possible to allow access for all of our children. 

To allow us to gauge the feasibility of the proposed trip please would you complete the online form by clicking on the link (https://forms.office.com/r/kmRbruvqwp) and supply a deposit of £15 by Friday 26th November 2021 either via ParentPay or by sending the money into school in a sealed envelope. This will help us identify if the trip be deemed viable (based on the number of replies).
