Zumba fitness dance class
We have a new Zumba dance fitness class starting on Wednesday 4th March in Portstewart Primary School from 7-8pm for parents and members of the local community. It will be run by a fully qualified Zumba instructor. Come along, exercise and have some fun. Cost is £5 per class or there is a discounted price of £25 for 6 weeks.
SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHS
Our school photographer will visit school on Monday 9th March and Tuesday 10th March. Individual and sibling photographs will be taken. Parents will then receive an order form afterwards if they wish to purchase any of the photos. Please ensure that all pupils come to school on Monday 9th and Tuesday 10th March wearing the correct school uniform. Family photographs, group and team photographs will be taken at a later date when our photographer will return to school in the summer term.
SCHOOL DISCO
A school disco will be held during school hours on Wednesday 11th March. Details are as follows:
Nursery, P1, P2 and P3 children will have their disco session from 12.30 p.m. – 1.15 p.m.
The P4, P5 P6 and P7 disco will run from 1.30 p.m. – 2.30 p.m. approximately
Children are not required to wear school uniform on the day of the disco, there is a minimum suggested donation of £1 for non-uniform. There will be no admission charge for the disco but a tuck shop, staffed by PTA members, will operate for both sessions. Lunch will be served slightly earlier than usual and normal end of school times will apply on Wednesday 11th March.
PTA design a logo competition
On Monday 9th March your child will receive a ‘Design a logo’ competition page from the PTA. If your child wishes to take part them should complete the activity and submit their entry to the school office by 27th March 2020. The winner will receive a £20 voucher to spend in Maud’s and the winning logo will be used in all of the PTA’s posters, letters and displays. Please only use colouring pens, pencils or crayons on your design.
SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT DAY and ST PATRICK’S DAY
As already planned our school will be closed on Monday 16th March 2020 for a staff development day, therefore pupils are not to attend. On Tuesday 17th March 2020 school will close at 12 noon for St Patrick’s Day. There will be no morning snack or dinners on Tuesday 17th March as the school meals kitchen is closed. School will resume on Wednesday 18th March and normal times will apply.
BOOK FAIR
A book fair will arrive in school on Wednesday 18th March and be located in the school assembly hall. Books will be available for viewing and purchase each morning between 8.30 – 8.55 a.m. and each afternoon from 2.00 – 3.30 p.m. The book fair will leave on Wednesday 25th March in the morning time. We have organised the Book Fair to be in school at the same time as Parent/Teacher consultations.
