The competition was to find a new and surprising solution to a global challenge. Isla's idea was based around an invention called 'pollution whale'. Her vision of the ‘pollution whale’ is a machine that patrols underwater in areas where coral reef and sea life are at risk of polluting our seas. It looks like a whale so it doesn’t frighten the sea creatures as it moves. It sucks in the polluted water through the blow hole, where it is filtered and then sorted into useful parts which can be broken down and used to rebuild the coral. The harmful products are also broken down in a safe environmentally friendly way to convert to energy to power the pollution whale. The pollution whale moves removing the pollution and rebuilding coral and the underwater ecosystem as it goes. What a fantastic idea!

Please take some time to vote for Isla's winning design.

Many thanks,

Mrs K Taylor
